Will the Smoking Ban in the UK Drive Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Web?

An abundance has been talked in the papers recently concerning the bingo industry being hit as a consequence of the anti cigarette law in Britain. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for massive aid to help keep the businesses from going bankrupt. However will the net variation of this traditional game present a lifeline, or will it in no way compare to its real life opposite?

Bingo has been an established game generally played by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game of late had witnessed a recent resurgence in popularity with younger members of society opting to visit the bingo parlours instead of the clubs on a Saturday night. This is all about to be reversed with the introduction of the anti cigarette law all over UK.

Players will no longer be allowed to smoke whilst dabbing numbers. From the summer of ‘07 all public places will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo parlours, which are possibly the most favored places where folks enjoy smoking.

The results of the anti smoking law can already be observed in Scotland where cigarettes are already forbidden in the bingo parlors. Players have dropped and the business is literally fighting for its life. But where have all the players gone? Surely they haven’t forgotten this ancient game?

The answer is on the net. People are now realizing that they can participate in bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a beer and cig and still enjoy monstrous prizes. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course betting on on the internet could never replace the social part of heading over to the bingo hall, but for a group of men and women the rules have left a lot of bingo enthusiasts with no choice.
