Might the Cigarette Ban in the UK Force Bingo Players On to the Internet?

A lot has been written in the papers just a while ago regarding the bingo industry struggling as a result of the anti cigarette law in the United Kingdom. Conditions have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded massive aid to assist in keeping the businesses alive. However will the internet version of this classic game present a salvation, or will it not compare to its real life peer?

Bingo is an enduring game normally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game of late had experienced a recent resurgence in popularity with younger members of society deciding to hit the bingo halls rather than the clubs on a Friday night. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the enforcement of the anti cigarette law all over United Kingdom.

No longer will gamblers be permitted to puff on cigarettes whilst marking numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public place will no longer be permitted to allow cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most popular places where many people enjoy smoking.

The outcome of the anti smoking law can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already not permitted in the bingo parlors. Numbers have dropped and the business is literally fighting for to stay alive. But where did the players go? Of course they have not abandoned this familiar game?

The answer is on the web. Players are now realizing that they can participate in bingo using their computer at the same time enjoying a drink and smoke and in the end, have a chance at huge jackpots. This is a recent anomaly and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course wagering on on the internet could never replace the communal part of heading over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of players the law has left many bingo players with no option.
